Stick/ Body Bar Ab Crunches
Exercises for Stomach, Abs, and Core
On Ab-Core-and-Stomach-Exercises.com, you can learn all the best exercises for stomach, abs, and core.
Below is a fun yet challenging stomach exercise. It's easy for some people but almost impossible for others, check it out below.
Fun Stomach Exercise: Stick Ab Crunches
For this stomach exercise you'll need a regular stick or dowel, or you can use a weighted body bar for more challenge.
Starting Position: Lie on your back with your hips bent to 90 degrees. Hold the stick with both hands over your chest.
Form: Exhale and crunch forwards while moving the stick over the top of your feet and behind your knees. Then, allow your upper body to go back towards the floor while the stick is still behind your knees.
Next, crunch your body forwards again and bring the stick under your heels and back to the starting position.
Personal Trainer Tips: Your hip and lower back flexibility will determine if this stomach exercise is easy or hard. Plus if you have short arms and big feet it will be much harder... haha.
If you have good flexibility and you find a regular broom stick to be too easy, try using a weighted body bar. Body Bars start around 9 pounds but go up to over 20 pounds. This will also make your arms work much harder.
You can also make this exercise slightly more challenging by allowing the stick or body bar to move all the way over your head during each rep, instead of just stopping in front of your chest.
If you like this stomach exercise, try the one leg variation of stick crunches.
Conclusion: Exercises for Stomach and Core
Using a stick to do crunches can be fun and challenging. If you find it's easy, try a different stomach exercise, and if you find stick crunches challenging simply keep practicing. And if you have a sense of humor try to get your friends to try it... it will be even funnier if you master it first and then ask them to imitate you.
Did I mention, you should have fun working out. If not, "You should have fun working out!", so try mixing up your ab routine every now and then to break the monotony.
